Material Planner - Aurora, Missouri


Plans and expedites the acquisition and distribution of materials, supplies and services necessary for manufacturing AFB International® products. These products and services are to be secured at cost, quality, and delivery competitive levels consistent with Company policy and performance standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Schedule and secure delivery of raw material from approved suppliers to meet the production demand of the manufacturing facilities.
  • Work with third party logistic partners to create and optimize value provided.
  • Oversee and maintain purchase orders for all purchased materials.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of all raw materials necessary to meet requirements of manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships with vendors for all key raw materials.
  • Collaborate with raw material suppliers to create short and long term strategies for consistent uninterrupted supply of all critical raw materials.
  • Assist in managing the supplier’s performance program.
  • Ability to effectively build strong working relationships across multiple functional areas within the organization as well as with outside vendors.
  • Communicates with vendors or service providers on all new purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Serve as an active member of all project or cross-functional teams as assigned, providing new ideas and building on the suggestions of other team members.
  • Strong process improvement skills, with ability to participate and developing the use of continuous improvement techniques to achieve operational excellence.
  • Assist in developing and managing production schedule at plant level.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree with major/minor in operations/supply-chain or logistics, two (2) to three (3) years of ingredient or agricultural commodity expediting/logistics and planning preferred, experience in the food or feed industry required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal relations skills. 
  • Advanced computer skills in Windows and Internet applications, as well as MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Experience with MRP system preferred.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills. 
  • Advanced planning and organization skills required.
  • Ability to comprehend and learn quickly; ability to adjust quickly to changing demands as needed.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
