Safety Health and Environmental Manager - Aurora, MO

We are currently seeking experienced safety, health and environmental professionals to join the on-site leadership team at our largest manufacturing facility as the SH&E leader for this 24/7 fast-paced, people-first, continuous-improvement focused operation. This role reports into the head of Global EH&S and has accountability for all safety, health, and environmental activities at a factory that is on the journey to true safety culture, where vital safety practices are embedded in everything we do at all levels of the organization. SUMMARY

Plans and coordinates safety, environmental and health program requiring application of safety and environmental principals to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational and environmental hazards by performing the following duties.

Essential Responsibilities / Job Functions -

  • Develops and implements programs and policies for monitoring and preventing chemical hazards, physical hazards, and environmental hazards at the facility.
  • Surveys, complies and analyzes data relating to the occupational and environmental health issues such as chemical exposure, fumes, noise, temperatures, dust, vapors, mist, gases, solvents, lighting, and ergonomics which are known or suspected of being real or potential detriments to health.
  • Performs environmental, health and safety evaluations and facility emergency response duties.
  • Maintains and provides input to hazardous communications, including maintaining safety data sheets and chemical approval.
  • Maintains portable monitoring instrumentation and equipment.
  • Implements or recommends control measures for exposure to hazardous materials or conditions.
  • Advises employees, visitors and contractors on company and regulatory requirements designed to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Provides technical guidance to management, government agencies, and civil groups regarding health related problems and correct use of protective clothing or accessories.
  • Monitors the company’s safety, health and environmental standards in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintains a program and system to track and evaluate worker injuries and environmental and safety recommendations.
  • Assists management with preparation and maintenance of the safety budget.
  • Serves on the behavioral based safety committee and chemical hygiene team, assisting the team leaders in driving the team’s success.
  • Leads incident investigations and other groups or teams involved in environmental, health and safety.
  • Develops and facilitates training for workers on issues related to environmental health and safety.
  • Updates and maintains environmental permitting and reporting requirements for the facility.
  • Work with licensed health care professionals to evaluate work related conditions and determine appropriate return to work plans.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Four (4) to six (6) years related experience or training required.
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with major(s): Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Risk Management, or other related field.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The schedule for this position is typically Monday - Friday, but may required modified workdays and on-call availability as needed to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Up to 10% travel required; domestic
  • Overall physical activity level for this job: Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a production/technical nature.
  • Overall working conditions for this job: Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.
