Eating Patterns in Cats During Extended Exposure to Fixed Diets

Eating Patterns in Cats During Extended Exposure to Fixed Diets

As humans, we tend to think our companion animals think like we do. AFB International’s research on cats and diet preference over time suggests we’re not always right.

Palatability studies with humans and rodents have shown repeated exposure to a monotonous diet results in a decline in preference for that diet, a condition known as sensory specific satiety or flavor fatigue. However, AFB research suggests a fixed diet may not affect feline eating patterns in the same way. Read a free summary of our research, including charted results for:

  • First choice and intake ratio

  • Level of palatability enthusiasm

  • Total feline intake of diets
